We hosted a Coffee Klatch at the home of Brooke Icenhour (co-owner) today at 10:00 a.m. 4 members attended along with a photographer from the Greenville News. It was an informal breakfast with coffee, juice, and pastries.
We all had a great time chatting and looking for coupons. Please see our website, www.upstatecouponers.com for info on who will hold the next Coffee Klatch!

Wow! We sure did need a rest day today! Yesterday we taught a workshop in Clinton, SC. It was held at Youth World daycare center. There were so many great people in attendance! We couldn't believe that everyone was there to hear us talk about what we love to do, save money. It is just second nature to us at Upstate Couponers.
I am always so emotional when I talk about why it is important to save and stockpile. We at Upstate Couponers truly believe that it only takes one major illness to devastate your family's finances. It is also very important in these tough economic times to help ourselves by stockpiling food and other items we use on a daily basis. Being ahead of the game is what it's all about.
Thank you to everyone who made our workshop in Clinton possible! It was a wonderful success! Thank you to Bi-Lo of Clinton for providing refreshments. The cookies were soooo good!

Today we taught a workshop at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Simpsonville. It was a small group of ladies from the church a few people attended who saw us on the Jack and Kimberly show. It was very successful and we really enjoyed our time with them! Everyone who attended said that they learned something new. Even a veteran couponer said that she learned some new things that she didn't know. That always makes us feel good! We are stronger together. At Upstate Couponers we always say that we don't know it all and we love to learn from those who attend our workshops. Knowledge is power, especially in the world of couponing!
I'm still amazed at the number of poeple who claim that big box wholesale clubs are cheaper than other chain grocery stores. This is simply not true. First of all, you have to pay to shop there. Any store that requires me to pay them to spend my money is not earning my business. If you only purchase a few items at these wholesale club stores you are not saving money at all. First, you spend money in gas to get there, pay for your membersip, and then the items you buy. It's simply not cheaper. Going to stores where you normally is shop is going to give you a better deal in the long run. First, you're already there so your not drinking your savings in gas. You can ask the store manager to price match (most stores will), and you can get coupons for these items that will double and stack them with a store coupon. Shopping at wholesale clubs will only cost you more in the long run. Do not be fooled by their marketing ploys!
